2. Righto’s purpose
Righto is an independent educational resource that provides general information about Victorian laws, police powers, individual rights and related legal and procedural topics in plain English.
Righto is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Information provided through Righto is general in nature and is not tailored to your individual circumstances.
Using Righto does not create a lawyer-client relationship or any other professional advisory relationship.
Where appropriate, you should obtain advice from a qualified Australian legal practitioner or appropriate legal assistance service.
Righto is not an emergency service. If you or another person is in immediate danger, call Triple Zero (000).
3. Police interactions and lawful obligations
Righto provides information intended to help users better understand their rights and obligations when dealing with police and other legal situations.
Nothing in Righto should be interpreted as encouraging you to refuse a lawful direction, obstruct police, interfere with an investigation, evade lawful obligations or otherwise act contrary to Australian law.
You remain responsible for your own conduct and for complying with lawful obligations that apply to your circumstances.
Righto cannot guarantee that using or relying upon information contained in the application will produce any particular legal, policing, court or other outcome.
4. Accounts
Normal use of Righto requires an account.
You must provide a valid email address that you are authorised to access and must take reasonable steps to protect access to your email account and Righto account.
Righto uses email-based authentication, including one-time codes. You must not knowingly provide an authentication code or account access to another person where doing so could compromise your account.
You must not use or attempt to use another person’s Righto account without permission.
If you believe your account or email access has been compromised, you should take reasonable steps to secure your email account and contact Righto where appropriate.
5. Purchase and app stores
Righto may be distributed through an app store or other authorised distribution platform.
Where access to Righto requires payment, the applicable store or platform may process the transaction and its payment, billing and refund terms may also apply.
Unless expressly offered otherwise, purchasing access to Righto does not create an automatically renewing subscription.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or modified, including applicable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
6. Content limitations
Laws, regulations, policies, court decisions, procedures and policing practices can change. Righto aims to provide useful and current information but does not guarantee that every item of content is complete, current, error-free or suitable for every circumstance.
Righto may not immediately reflect legislative amendments, new court decisions, policy changes or changes in operational policing practices.
Where official sources are provided, you should consider those sources and independently verify information where appropriate.
You should obtain professional legal advice where the consequences of acting, or not acting, may be significant.

These links and references may be provided for convenience, further information or verification.
Righto does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, security, content or privacy practices.
